How are new indicators integrated added to Data Catalog through Field Setup?
New indicators added to existing integrations or through new integrations can be added to Data Catalog using a tool called Field Setup. How?
- Wait for data to be integrated into Druid before creating new fields to be added to Data Catalog.
- Field Setup can be accessed by clicking on the hamburger button on the far right of the blue navigation bar and clicking on ‘Field Setup’ in the menu. Note that this tool is available to Site Admins only. New fields get surfaced in the Field Setup page automatically after being integrated into Druid.
How does this work?
- The Field Setup page evaluates all the fields that are in Druid and not in Data Catalog.
- As a result, this may include some old fields that were never removed from Druid. If you wish to declutter the field setup page of these indicators, let an engineer know.
- Document new fields by providing information on indicator name, short name, definition (optional), calculation, category, etc.
- If you wish to add metadata to more than one indicator (e.g. category, calculation), then use the checkboxes and batch update buttons.
- Publish new fields to Data Catalog via the ‘Publish’ button
- Note: you can publish specific fields at a time by clicking on ‘Publish’ at the row level, or publish more than one indicator by using the checkboxes and batch ‘Publish’ button to the top-right of the page.
