How do I add custom colors to my query results?
You are able to flexibly color results on the Maps and Table (Scorecard). This function is especially useful to quickly interpret the variability of your data visually.
- Run your query and go to the visualization of your interest i.e. map or table.
- Open ‘Setting’ and click on ‘Series’
- Under 'Series', click on the blue plus (+) sign under ‘Color rules'.
- From the 'I want to color' dropdown, make a selection based on your required coloring (scroll down the selection to get more options). The options are:
a. Top: colors the highest results in a certain way you specify
b. Bottom: colors the lowest results in a certain way you specify
c. Values above: colors results above a certain value in a way you specify
d. Values below: colors results below a certain value in a way you specify
e. Above average: colors results with values above the average in a way you specify
f. Below average: colors results with values below the average in a way you specify
g. Preset ranges: colors results based on pre-set ranges. These ranges are:
- * * Medians (equal halves): splits the results into two and colors them accordingly
- Tertiles (equal thirds): splits the results into three equal parts and assigns a color for each
- Quartiles (equal quarters): splits the results into four equal parts and assigns a color for each
- Quintiles (equal fifth): splits the results into five equal parts and assigns a color for each
- Deciles (equal tenths): splits the results into ten equal parts and assigns a color for each
h. Custom ranges: colors results within the ranges you specify. You can create the color ranges manually by adding more ranges. To add ranges, click on the plus (+) sign shown on the picture below.
i. True: colors results with a value of 1
j. False: colors results with a value of 0
k. Values equal to: colors results equal to the number that you specify
l. Equal to null: results with missing values will be colored in a way you specify
m. Not a number: colors results which are mathematically ‘undefined’ in a way you specify
- Adjust the colors by clicking the colored tile and selecting the color you want.
- You can also add labels to your color selection that will be shown in the legend.
- Use the ‘Replace value’ function (see picture above) to enter text and symbols you want to show in place of values that fulfill your coloring criteria. The values in your table or map that meet this coloring criteria will be replaced by the text and symbols you specify.
- Click ‘Close’ at the middle of the dialogue box to confirm your choices.
- Navigate to the Map or Scorecard to see your changes. See the Map section to learn more about how to customize the Map display settings.
