How do I group my analysis results by time?

To specify your time-based aggregation level (‘group by’),

  • Go to the Analyze tool page and select your desired indicators.

  • In the ‘Group By’ section, click on the ‘Add+’ button to add a time group by. You have two options: ‘Date Group' or ‘Date Extraction.’

  • Select a time group (e.g. Month/Quarter/Year or Month of Year/Quarter of Year).

Note that ‘Date Group’ and ‘Date Extraction’ group bys are different:

  • ‘Date Group’ enables you to organize your analysis by continuous month, quarter or year for the time period your analysis covers.

  • ‘Date Extraction’ organizes your analysis by month (January to December) or quarter (Q1 to 4) for the time period your analysis addresses. This means that for any query across multiple years (e.g. time filter applied is 2015 - 2019), then your time groupings will aggregate results across the years. For example, ‘Month of Year’ group by would result in 12 months (Jan to Dec) aggregating data across years, which will provide insights on seasonality.
